uieditfield minimum vertical size

When I try to make uieditfield vertical size smaller than 18 pixels I get a horizontal bar through the field and my text is no longer vertically centred. Is this a bug? If you look closely the bar seems to be there even in larger textboxes, but it is at the very top of the field.

Steps to reproduce:

fig = uifigure;
edt = uieditfield(fig);
edt.Value = '0';
edt.FontSize = 8;
edt.Position(4) = 12;

I see it too in 19b and 20a. I hadn't noticed it before. I'd say it's a bug.

I have heard that this issue is known and the concerned parties may be investigating further.
