Why is MATLAB officially written with capitalized letters?

The name is short for "Matrix Laboratory", and I therefore find "MatLab" to be the logical choice of capitalizing.

MATLAB was styled on FORTRAN in the late 1970s. FORTRAN was not renamed to Fortran until 1990.
