With a background in sales within the embedded systems and IT industries, I’ve found my transition to MathWorks less than a year ago has been an incredibly rewarding experience. This new chapter in my career feels uniquely purposeful, setting it apart from my previous roles.
Initially, my focus was on selling design and simulation software. However, I quickly discovered a deeper mission: engaging with the academic community to shape the future mindset of students and educators. This approach involves guiding institutions and universities on integrating engineering skills into the learning process.
Engineering education is continuously evolving to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Traditional lecture-based teaching methods are being replaced or enhanced by hands-on, experiential learning approaches, such as project-based assignments, hackathons, and design challenges. Additionally, there is an increasing emphasis on preparing students for professional success by developing soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and ethical decision-making.
At MathWorks, we aim to be a catalyst in this evolution. Being a driver of this process is the best opportunity I could ask for. As an education sales account manager, I feel a responsibility to help students build their understanding of MATLAB and Simulink, preparing them for promising technical careers.
