How can I obtain satellite images to be plotted into a figure?

Hi all,

I have logged the GPS position of a vehicle to make some analysis. My data is in terms of latitude and longitude. I need to plot the vehicle GPS position. In order to extract more information, I want to plot also a satellite image of the data together with the vehicle position data. How can I get satellite images that can be plotted in a figure? In particular, I need satellite images of Italy.
