Error message when saving figure in Matlab 2016b

When I attempt to save a figure, I get the following error in the command line: "Error while evaluating Menu Callback"

I use 'plottools' to create the figure. I save by clicking on the 'save as' icon, which brings up a 'Save As' dialog box, with 'Save as type:' selected to Matlab Figure(*.fig), and the directory set to the current working directory.

All of this has worked fine until now.
