Is pipe elevation taken away from pipe lenght?

Hello,
I am currently working on a school engineering project, my goal is to simulate the flow of water from a pond to a reservoir using a pump, for this I am trying to plot the pump's curve using a variable pressure source pushing water through a pipe (Hydraulic Pipe LP from simscape) with an elevation and then getting data through sensors (pressure and flowrate).
My question was: When inputting the pipe lenght, and then inputting elevation, does the elevation is taken from the pipe lenght (basically, if I put a lenght of 1 meter, and an elevation of 1 meter, is matlab simulating a purely vertical pipe, or does it simulate a pipe put sideway in a 1*1 meter square)

the pipe length and cross section area defines its geometry (volume, heat transfer area, etc.) while the elevation provides a way to generate a pressure difference between the two ports. The elevation doesn't change the pipe itself, but just how it's placed. In your case, it'll be a vertical pipe.
