ocr template matching question

i need some tutorial how to do that.

i know that i need 3 thinks to crate tamplete

• 1 folder with jgp all letters and digis
• 2 .m file with read all letters and digis
• 3 .mat file ??? what is that? how can i create that? or see what it contains?
• than
• 4. compare all thing from tamplete with segmented characters.

i need some information how to crate that .mat file and what it shoud contain , but full tutorial or somthing like that woud be good.

If the template is in the same orientation and size as the image, then you can try normalized cross correlation. A demo is attached.
