Is is possible to leave the dialog box created with inputs open after clicking ok?

I would like to keep a dialog box open after clicking ok in order to always visualize the input data :

is it possible?

Yes. Simply create a dialog box which have an "Apply" button. That "Ok" closes the dialog is the standard look&feel, so changing this behavior would confuse the users.

Thank you Jan. I read in a recent answer (483085) that inputdlf does not support an additional button (Apply-like): do you mean that I should create my own inputdlg?

You can copy the code of inputdlg and add your own button.

Thanks, I created an inputdlg_apply.m but I was not able to get it working.

If I put inputdlg_apply.m in the same dir than inputdlg (uitools), the error is :

Unrecognized function or variable 'inputdlg_apply'.

If I put it in my working directory, then the error is:

Error in inputdlg_apply (line 322)

set(InputFig,'Position',getnicedialoglocation(FigPos,get(InputFig,'Units')));

I am probably not enough expert of Matlab...

Creating a function inside Matlab's toolbox folders requires Admin privileges. It is recommended not to work with such high privileges, because this includes the risk to modify Matlab's toolbox functions by accident. This is extremely hard to debug, e.g. if the debugger is affected.

If you create the function in a folder with user access, some subfunctions in the subfolder /private might be missing. You could copy them also.

I'd prefer to rewrite the dialog from scratch. See https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/24861-41-complete-gui-examples .
