Is that a way to read the 3D .raw volume data directly in matlab?
If not, Is it the best way to convert it to other formal in order to import the data?
Thanks

You'll probably need to use fread() to read a slice at a time and then concatenate or insert into a 3D array. Of course you'll need the format since there's no one "raw" format that everyone uses. Anyone can make up whatever format they want and call it raw.
For example attached is a program of mine that reads in a raw flavor that we use.

??? Undefined function or method 'Read_RAW_Header' for input arguments of type 'char'.
Error in ==> Read_RAW_3DArray at 26 stHeader = Read_RAW_Header(fullFileName);
I don't know why this popped up. btw,fullFileName is correct.

That's because I didn't give you that function. Unless you have the same CT machine I have, your header is almost certainly different than mine. So you will need to write your own code to read the header and the file. I just gave you an example . It is not intended to work right out of the box .
