How to merge labeled bounding boxes of different parts of the same object ?

My question is how to merge two or more bounding boxes of different closer parts witch represent really the same object ? thanks

You might try running imclose() to merge the two parts of the image. Please post/attach your image so we can better understand what you're talking about.

the image below represents my case:

The red color represents the motion detected (moving regions). After the labeling and the computation of bounding boxes of the moving regions, my goal is to merge the bounding boxes (the labels also) for the moving regions of the person on the left. If I use imclose () function, it will merge these regions with the region of the person on the right. thanks

Looks like you should have done a better segmentation job to begin with, so you don't have such widely separated blobs. But my guess is that the person on the left was standing and so the middle of him didn't move and he was considered part of the background. So it looks like you're correctly identifying the parts of the image that moved. That's a different thing than finding all parts of people who may be in the frame (whether or not they move). What do you want to find? Things that move, or people? Maybe you want to switch to the latter.

Thanks. My goal is to detect and then track the motion in a video sequence. since, whatever the kind of motion detction used method, these segementation errors always occur. But I am trying to reduce or correct them. I used some morphological operations, but it's not enough to merge some neighboring regions.

Well like I said, it's not an error if you want to find things that moved . If the torso of the man on the left did not move , then why should you find it?

I want to perfom approximately the work of groupRectangles function in OpenCv, i.e. group overlapping and nearest rectangles.
