Applied Autonomous Robots I
By Professor M. Ani Hsieh
Mechanical Engineering
Drexel University
This is a two-quarter course that addresses the problems of controlling and motivating robots to act intelligently in dynamic, unpredictable environments. Lectures are complemented by project-based assignments, discussions, and in-class student presentations. The course includes topics such as mobile robot kinematics, motion planning, and control. MATLAB and USARSim are used to perform realistic simulation of a 3D environment built on the Unreal Tournament game engine and to control virtual robotic agents.
Learning Outcomes
- Ability to take concepts learned during the lectures and practice programming skills through home assignments.
- Develop problem solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to simulate virtual robotic behaviors based on theoretical concepts.
- Acquire extensive hands-on programming experience with MATLAB and USARSim.
- Ability to work in teams to deliver complete projects with demonstrations and presentations.
