In this tutorial, we explain the basic principles and limitations of near-field radiative heat transfer (NFRHT). Further, we aim to demonstrate how NFRHT can be applicable to nanoscale technologies including near-field thermophotovoltaics. At the end of our tutorial, we provide several references which further discuss NFRHT and its potential impact on future technologies. This work is done together with Spencer Cira and Sean McSherry at Lenert Research Group at University of Michigan Department of Chemical Engineering.
