This error typically occurs when the client machine is unable to communicate with the hostname listed in the client license file because the data that the license server is returning to the client is not the data that is expected.
Some potential causes of this issue are:
- Improperly formatted network.lic file or environment variable
- Pointing to the wrong Server
- The Network License Manager is misconfigured
- Reinstalling MATLAB
To resolve this, check that the network.lic and environment variable include the proper format. If the issue persists after the formatting is confirmed, confirm that the network.lic hostname is pointing to the correct Server. If the correct Server is being pointed to, you may need to change the hostname listed in the SERVER line of the client license file to the fully qualified name or the IP Address of the license server machine instead.
If you have access to the License Manager hosted on the Server, please check your License Manager configurations to confirm that the License Manager is properly setup and running on your Server so that client machines can properly connect. Verify that the license.dat SERVER line is reflected on the network.lic that is provided to client machines.
If this issue is occuring after having reinstalled MATLAB, please make sure that the [MATLABRoot\licenses] directory includes the proper network.lic. Make sure to replace the network.lic with the most recent network.lic that has been provided by your License Administrator.
