Why do I see the error "Unable to locate required installation files" when running the MathWorks installer?

When I enter the File Installation Key or select my license and confirm my installation settings, I receive an error that MATLAB is unable to locate the required installation files, or I see that some of my products are missing.

How do I fix this issue?

In MATLAB R2014a and earlier, the error is "There are no products available to install from this location."

This error occurs in two common scenarios:

1. The online MATLAB installer was unable to connect to MathWorks' servers
2. You used the "Advanced Options" dropdown menu to select "I want to use a File Installation Key" to try to do an offline installation, but you were running the online MATLAB installer

Note than when doing an Online installation, a File Installation Key is not needed.

Additional Tips:

Ensure that you are running the MathWorks Installer from the downloaded installation files/ISO

To install products using the offline installation files, navigate to the folder where you downloaded the files and run the MathWorks Installer contained within. The name of the installer depends on the operating system:

Windows - "setup.exe"

Linux - "install"

macOS (for Intel processors) - "InstallForMacOSIntelProcessor"

macOS(for Silicon processors) - "InstallForMacOSAppleSilicon"

Check platform availability for the product you are trying to install
