How do I display a standard system dialog box from my MATLAB code?

I would like to display the dialog boxes typically found in applications for opening a file or printing a document from within my MATLAB code.

This bug has been fixed in Release 2007a (R2007a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
Several functions exist that provide this capability. For a complete list of predefined dialog boxes, type the following at the MATLAB command prompt:
