Subcarriers Assignment in LTE

I am looking for the a document or algorithm that specifies how to do subcarriers assignment in an OFDM signal based on the FFT size. Like in this document, https://home.zhaw.ch/kunr/NTM1/literatur/LTE%20in%20a%20Nutshell%20-%20Physical%20Layer.pdf, I can identify the number of occupied subcarriers based on the FFT size but not their locations. Is there any algorithm or rational behind this?
