Using Print is quite slow

Hi,

I'm trying to draw a series of pictures relating to series of data. Each picture is a 3D slice of a cloud of points. Inside the slice is perhaps 5k-10k points. The figures come up quite quickly, but then to save them takes 15-20min each! I've tried projecting the points onto a 2D plot but this doesn't speed it up at all. I'm curious as to how it can draw them so quickly and then to save takes so long.

I'm trying to put them in a powerpoint so I've tried saving them as PNGs, TIFFs, JPG, EPS. While JPG and EPS are fast JPG looks horrible and EPS is very large. I suspect I'm doing something wrong, is there a much better way of doing things?
