plot symbols of different size with respect to values

Hi, I want to plot symbols (squares for example) but with different sizes. The size of the plotted symbols is given in a vector.

in R, we can plot it using symbols(dupl[,1],dupl[,2],squares=squares,xlab='',ylab='') where dupl is the values to plot, squares is a vector indicating the size of every point of dupl
