Reading Contour Shape File from ArcGIS in MATLAB

Hi,

I have a contour shapefile from ArcGIS. I need to extract points along the contour lines so that I will be able to calculate slope and do other calculations using those slopes. To do that, I want to use MATLAB to read the contour shapefile. Is this possible? Can anyone with the expertise help me?

As you have a shape file....you need to read that shape file into matlab. To read shape file read about shaperead.

S = shaperead(filename) ;

Now S is a structrue with all your data information of shape file. You can do what you want with the data.
