Why the Ideal Angular Velocity source is used in the Calculate Performance Curves of BLDC simulink model?

Hi there,
I am new to MATLAB and working on a subject mini project in which I have to find out Torque-Speed characteristics of BLDC motor.
I found an interesting example on MATLAB portal "Calculate Performance Curves of BLDC" which can be access on MATLAB 2019 and above using the following command
ee_bldc_ideal_input_performance_curves
Here is the screenshot of the same module.
Here I have to measure Torue and Speed of the motor.
I am unable to understand, Why the Ideal Angular Velocity source is attached as the BLDC motor's R port is Mechanical rotational conserving port associated with the motor rotor which could be used to measure speed and torque.
Why is it need to source angular velocity externally ?

Hello there,
The speed is constrained on the motor shaft. Then, a trapezoidal modulation determines the amount of electric power and hence the torque delivered. So that the complete power spectrum is covered to plot the performance curves.
So the motor is operated on an open-loop fashion, even if the feedback of speed remains of a closed loop system.
