MATLAB for Digital Signal Processing

Hi All,

I have studied MATALAB in unit, however I have never used it in practice. I am thinking of buying the MATLAB to design Filter/Algorightms for DSPs.

As I want to design Filter/Algorithm in MATLAB and then import on my Microprocessor/DSP, does MATLAB convert the Filter/Algorithm in C?

I am used to C and I have used C for many PIC18 Microprocessors. I am moving to DSP now and need to get going.

Can someone inform whether MATLAB will be useful for the purposes above?
