How to plot a scatter graph on Google Earth?

Hi all, I have some data that is formed of lat/long and signal and I'd like to plot them onto Google Earth. I have the mapping toolbox, but can't seem to find anything that would make it simple. You can of course plot coordinates easily, but I want each point to be a color based on it's value, just like in a scatter plot.
The only way I can think of is to draw a scatter plot, then export as an image (using e.g. Google Earth Overlay by Cameron Sparr on FEX), but that doesn't seem to handle the perspective/skew quite right.
Is there an easier way?

Maybe exporting it into a *.kml file http://developers.google.com/kml/documentation/kml_tut which Google Earth can interpret and display for you would achieve what you want?
