Can't get MATLAB to start

I'm getting the following message:
_"_There was an unexpected exception:
Can't load library: /Applications/MATLAB_R2009aSV.app//bin/maci64/libactivation,jnilib
See the log file (/var/folders/II/IITvHmCnEv8ZomsQaeMPZE+++Tl/-Tmp-/TMW_svact_jaminking.log) for more details.__ITALIC TEXT_"
I've never actually been able to open MATLAB. I bought it last year for a class, then when the same thing happened, I gave up and just started logging in my school's server to do homework. But I'd finally like to get this on my computer. Please help.

Most installation and startup issues als well documented in solutions or bug reports. This could be relevant for you: link.
And certainly Walter is right about Technical Support

You should contact Mathworks technical support, which offers free support for installation issues.

The link Andreas provided me worked, but I've hit another roadblock. I got to the part where it asks for a serial number and e-mail; I typed it in, and was told, "The e-mail address you entered is associated with a non-student MathWorks account and may not be reused for student purchases." Recall that last year I installed it fully, but then it wouldn't open (the icon would just bounce up and down for a few seconds and then disappear) because, according to a guy at the computer store, I needed more RAM, which I bought, and then ran into this problem.

Create a new email account on your favorite system and create a new Mathworks profile and register under that new account.
