Relay Control with Arduino and MATLAB

I currently have a relay system setup with an arduino code and sensor, so that desired sensor values impact the relays turning on and off. I am attempting to move this code to matlab so that I can more easily make a gui. Any advice on how to code relays on and off in MATLAB with the arduino matlab package? would it invovle writeDigital pins as 1 and 0?
