I'd like to modify my x/y ticks and related labels, as they should lay in their associated plane.
I've attached the matlab-membrane, once plotted in matlab (object of interest) and origin (ticks and labels as I want them to look like).
Is it possible the get the layout of the origin-plot in matlab, too?

You can rotate the axis labels by setting properties 'XTickLabelRotation' and 'YTickLabelRotation' for the axes(try rotating by 45 degrees). It won't change their planes but the labels would look more like the ones in your original plot. You can also try modifying a few of the other properties using the 'Property Inspector' of the image or by altering the properties of the axes(use 'gca' for this) and see what comes closest to your image.
You can find a list of the properties available for the axes here:
Additionally, you can also try using 'text' in place of labels for the axes and try altering the properties of text. You can find the properties available for 'text' here:

Thanks for your answer.
I already tried your suggestions, they won't do the trick in this case.
