How to keep figures from appearing?

I tried using: set(0,'DefaultFigureVisible','off') but it did not turn off the graphs that are generated from my code. I can use set(gcf,'Visible','off'), but this does not help too much because it turns off the graph after it has been made.

Hiding axes does not hide everything on the axes. You'd have to hide all the child components on the axes individually. You can put the axes into a panel if you want to hide the whole thing in one shot by hiding the panel.
