How to change UI language without changing windows region?

Hello,

I am a college student using matlab for my engineering classes, but I am also taking courses in Japanese. Some of the software I'm using for my Japanese class requires me to have the Windows region format set to Japan in order to work correctly, but when I do that Matlab also displays in Japanese, regardless of what the menu language option in the matlab settings says. Is there any way to fix this? For most programs its very simple to change the UI language.

Setting MWLOCALE_TRANSLATED to "OFF" will display the UI in the default language, English.

That says it's only for 2015 editions and older. I tried it and it did not work.

The workaround is there in the 2nd link for newer versions.

For MATLAB R2015a and newer versions:

Go to MATLAB Menu > Preferences > General > Select the language for the desktop and error messages > English and then restart MATLAB.
