help! array, data and textdata

How can I aggregate non numerical and numerical data in the same dataset? I have to create a function and make computations conditional to a list of variables (country, duration bucket). When I import the excel dataset in matlab it create separate textdata and data in my workspace. I created and array but then I can't manage to make computation. What is the correct way to proceed? Do I have to convert numerical/non numerical values?

You might try a structure or a cell array. I would try the cell array in your case.
