How can I speed up skeleton tracking using Kinect?

Hello,
I'm using a Kinect V2 for human skeleton tracking, but the frame-rate of visual image output on my screen is poor. How can I speed it up and make the information available in real time, or close to real time?
I'm using the code from this question
https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/373837-how-can-i-do-video-skeletal-tracking-through-kinect-v2-in-matlab
which is similar to the code used in this blog post http://talkingaboutme.tistory.com/657 (Although this person is using Kinect V1, I think). The output on his screen is a lot faster than what I am getting.
What can I do to improve performance?
