Which efficient method can i used for extract wavelet coefficients from brain MRI images other than DWT?

 Normally used  method is discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for extracting wavelet coefficients and gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) for statistical feature extraction. But i want to work with another efficient method  to extract coefficient of wavelets from brain MR images. Can you please suggest a suitable method .
