I was downloading the excellent gridfit.m file from the File Exchange, which was chosen as a 'File Exchange Select' by a review board. I wanted to see other 'File Exchange Select' files, but couldn't find them grouped or listed anywhere. Has File Exchange Select been superseded by user applied ratings? [Also if this question should have been posted elsewhere please let me know].

Now that I read the blog post linked to by Jan, I am beginning to remember "Select". I also recall a brief period where John took down his submissions from the FEX. My guess is "Select" must of been ended during that period and the system is now confused.

Thanks, I will file this under "historical artifact". John's FEX files are great, hope they remain.

You forgot to mention where you've found "File Exchange Select". I know the MathWorks: Pick of the week list. You can find the other picks by searching for the "potw" tag: SearchFEX: potw
But any other server could host its own list and call it "Select".
It seems like these are the corresponding submissions:
The other mentioned at http://blogs.mathworks.com/pick/2006/08/09/file-exchange-select/ have been deleted, and most of the links on this page are dead.

Just look at the gridfit submission that KE links to. It is hosted by TMW and it has an "editor's note" that is similar, but different from, the POW submissions.

Thanks Jan. I suppose it is more democratic to use aggregated user ratings than the 'Review Board' that seems to have chosen the 'File Exchange Select' submissions anyway.
