ocr is inconsistent with slashes even on same line

In the attached images (both original and pre-processed for ocr), I have the following text:

and when processed via the ocr function as a block, it returns:

SIA  2/2
Map  GI1

Note that the slashes are interpreted differently, even on the same line of text. Do you have any suggestions for how to better recognize the slashes?
