Parsing Bits

Hello,

I have say 4 binary sequences arranged in a matrix where the first row contains the first sequence and the second row contains the second sequence and so on. Now I need to take the bits in each column to form a new 16-QAM symbol. How can I do that?

idx = 1 + M(:,1)*8 + M(:,2)*4 + M(:,3)*2 + M(:,4);

Now use idx to index into an array of output symbols.
