Error message for the commands followed from example for exponential fit

I used the the following example from MATLAB examples, but gives an error
x = (0:0.2:5)'; y = 2*exp(-0.2*x) + 0.1*randn(size(x)); f = fit(x,y,'exp1')
plot(f,x,y)
Undefined function 'fit' for input arguments of type 'double'

fit() requires that you have the Curvefitting Toolbox installed and licensed.
