Viewing and working on 3D image

I have this 3D image from X ray CT. I need to view the file matlab. Please suggest what to do to extract the array from the structure?

Thankyou Sanjana. Very sorry for being late to reply. I have used squeeze function and I can work with xy plane (:,:,1) of the image. If I want to work on YZ or XZ plane of the image can you please suggest. For example if I want to count how many objects there are in the slices of those two planes, how to do that.
