How to solve partial differential equations using the dsolve solver?

I know about the pdepe numerical solver for pde's,but I'm trying to find explicit solutions to partial differential equations using the 'dsolve' solver. Can anyone show me how it's done? Or is there another alternative to find pde explicit solutions? Thanks.
