In section 6 of the "Fundamentals of ML" training course we calculated the speed of a star by measuring it's hydrogen absorption line and comparing it to a canonical value. The speed of the star (rel. to Earth) comes out to be -36.5698 (km/s). First off, is this the correct answer? Secondly, if the answer is negative then shouldn't we be calling it blueshift? (blueshift being negative redshift). This is kind of fundamental since it's being blue or red determines which way it is going, away from us (red) or towards us (blue). Anyone else noticed this? Maybe I just made a programming error although no error was picked up by the checker, I would be interested in knowing.
