I'm trying to submit a batch to our pmatlab_q on our cluster and I believe that it is a license/version issue.
I am running matlab 2011a and the cluster runs 2009b. The cluster has the mapping tool box with according to the matlab version. When the job fails/completes the diary returns
>> diary(job_GenSeattle7) License checkout failed. License Manager Error 0
For further information, refer to the FLEXnet Licensing documentation, available at "www.flexerasoftware.com".
Troubleshoot this issue by visiting: http://www.mathworks.com/support/lme/R2011a/0
Diagnostic Information: Feature: MATLAB_Distrib_Comp_Engine License path: 1720@discovery.cc.vt.edu:/home/deatjd/.matlab/*R2011a_licenses*:/apps/packages/matlab-R2011a/licenses/license.dat:/apps/packages/matlab-R2011a/licenses/network.lic FLEXnet Licensing error: 0,0.
Of course, there are no 2011a licenses on the server since it is running 2009. I'm assuming it is using the 2011a since that is the version my desktop is supporting. As a result of this problem, Matlab cannot find the functions from the mapping toolbox as well.

Even if you get the licensing sorted out, you still aren't going to be able to submit -- the client and cluster need to be running the same version of MATLAB.
