reading NITF jpeg2000 compressed images

Is there a workaround for reading NITFs with C8 (JPEG2000) compression. I get Bi-level and vector quantization compressed images currently not supported when using the nitfread function.

Given a filename, it will produce a JP2 tempfile in the current directory.

It may require some adjustment depending on the contents of the file and how you want to handle the output, but I don't have any files to test.
