How can i start one program from another and then run them parallelly?

I need to run one Matlab script file from another, but the reason i can't simply call one from the other is because i want them to both run together. I don't need any synchronisation between them while they are running, but i need to initially pass a value to the function being called.

Any solutions would be appreciated.
