convert spreadsheet date to datenum in import tool is not there in R2016a rendering Matlab useless to me.

The import tool just calls other tools such as readtable() . That would, though, in your version, convert date/times to datetime objects, so you would need to datenum() them if you need datenum specifically instead of datetime objects.

that's not the point, though. it's supposed to be in the import tool. can't follow their videos if the stuff isn't available in the most current version.
