Matlab 2011b 64bit. Running and instance in 32 bit mode.

Given windows 7 64 bit and Matlab 2011b. I want to be sure there is the possibility to run a Matlab instance in 32 bit mode, as some software I make Matlab talk to cannot support 64 bit.

I know about the terminal commmand Matlab -win32 which allows me to run Matlab from the cmd. Can I use the same command to call Matlab from my Start->All Programs->Matlab ?

You can install and use both 32- and 64-bit versions of Matlab R2011b on Windows 7 x64. You have to do a full installation of each. See
