how to create n-ary Huffman Coding Algorithm ?

Huffman coding. I need some help understanding the way i need to build this one. I know the method but I don't really know how to use this Matlab so it is above my experience and understanding.

thanks for the help ,but it didin't help what you wrote. I wrote a code for a cuaternar version but i can't generalize it. you are not helping at all. bad teachers

What error message did you encounter when you tried to generalize it? Or what, more specifically, would you need to be able to do in MATLAB that you do not know how to do?
