Matlab sequential function calls

I have a matlab script. From this script I have to call some sequential function calls I know how to write a function but not sequential function calls.

My Script File looks like this:

function1(input arguments)

function2(result from function1)

For function2 I need my results from function1 How can I now pass the result from function1 to function2 in my script file? Or am I doing this completely wrong?

result1 = function1(...);
result2 = function2(result1);

?
