Create game board in matlab

I want to create a board that displays for the user to see. I then want the user to be able to enter an x and y coordinate and replace that value with the value from another board.

Example: Board user sees:

 1 2 3 4 5
1 x x x x x
2 x x x x x
3 x x x x x
4 x x x x x
5 x x x x x

Actual board:

    1 2 3 4 5
  1 x x x x x
  2 x x x k x
  3 k x x x x
  4 x x k x x
  5 x x x x x

So if the user enters in x=3 and y=4 the new board the user sees is:

    1 2 3 4 5
  1 x x x x x
  2 x x x x x
  3 x x x x x
  4 x x k x x
  5 x x x x x
