Why does circle transform into a elipse when i plot a line and a circle ?

Here is my code: " xc=2;yc=1; r=1;

x2=0:5; y2=x2/2; plot(x2,y2);axis square hold on;

teta=-pi:0.01:pi; x=r*sin(teta)+xc; y=r*cos(teta)+yc; plot(x,y);axis square
