How to create a 3D polar plot?

I want to create a 3D graph of microphone polar patterns. How can I get a polar such as for the equation of a cardioid (r = 0.5 + 0.5cos(theta) ) and rotate it around the 0 degree axis to create it in 3D?

The only other options I can suggest are scatter3 or plot3. They don’t create a surface, though.
