Can we increase the memory in MATLAB?

Dear sir,

I have worked with symbolic programming. The problem is when i worked with a big problem the memory in MATLAB have to store many parameters, so the MATLAB stop working and appear the message'Out of memory'. so is there anyway to solve this problem. and i wonder that , in my solvers I used x=inv(A)*b to solve the system of linear equation,so if i change the solver like LU or Cholesky, will it help me or not?
