I would like to know whether Simscape Electrical supports the direct import of data files generated in COMSOL Multiphysics in order to implement a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) model.
Simscape Electrical provides interfaces to import electromagnetic data from other software tools such as JMAG-RT, ANSYS Maxwell, and Motor-CAD for machine modeling and parameter extraction. I am interested in understanding whether a similar workflow is available for COMSOL.
Specifically, I would like to know:
  • Can COMSOL-generated FEM data (e.g., flux linkage maps, inductance tables, torque maps, or lookup tables) be imported directly into Simscape Electrical?
  • Is there a recommended data export format from COMSOL (e.g., MATLAB files, CSV, lookup tables) that can be used to build a physics-based PMSM model in Simscape?
  • Are there any documented workflows or best practices for integrating COMSOL electromagnetic simulations with Simscape Electrical?
Any guidance on compatibility, required data formatting, or alternative approaches would be greatly appreciated.

There are no documented workflows. Depending on the formats in which torque and flux can be exported, it might be possible to import this data into Simscape Electrical. The best way forward is probably to contact COMSOL and ask which formats torque and flux can be exported in. If there is a format similar to what Simscape already accepts from Motor-CAD, that would be ideal.
