Clarification with IEC certified tools and the need for separate IEC certification kit

Hi,
As far as I read from the MATLAB website, the tools such as Matlab, Simulink, Embedded Coder,... are already ISO/IEC certified tools, but then, I am confused on the need for separate IEC certification kit available, to qualify those tools? Could you please clarify?
Thanks in advance

Great question! While MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded Coder, and other MathWorks tools are indeed certified for compliance with standards like ISO 26262 and IEC 61508, the IEC Certification Kit serves a different purpose.
  • Tool Certification: The tools themselves (MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded Coder, etc.) are certified as suitable for developing safety-related software. This means they meet the necessary standards for functional safety.
  • IEC Certification Kit: The IEC Certification Kit provides additional resources to help you qualify these tools within your specific development environment. This includes templates, certificates, validation suites, and documentation to streamline the certification process for your projects. It helps you produce a complete and standard-compliant tool qualification package for various standards, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and others.
In essence, while the tools are certified, the IEC Certification Kit helps you apply these certifications to your specific use cases, ensuring that your development processes and products comply with the required safety standards.

Thank you for your quick response; it clarifies my query.
Does the "IEC Certification Kit" need to be purchased as a standalone product, or is it included as part of any existing MATLAB toolboxes (both currently and previously)?
Additionally, could you let me know which other toolboxes are needed to use the IEC Certification Kit to qualify my model and its code generation to IEC/ISO? (may be the requirements toolboxes or so) I am unclear about this as well.
I appreciate your support.
The IEC Certification Kit is a standalone product and is not included as part of any existing MATLAB toolboxes. This kit provides additional resources such as templates, certificates, validation suites, and documentation to help you qualify MathWorks tools within your specific development environment, ensuring compliance with various safety standards.
@Siddarth Chockalingam, To use the IEC Certification Kit effectively for qualifying your model and its code generation to IEC/ISO standards, you will need several MathWorks toolboxes.
